Beschreibung: Coenzyme A (CoA) is an essential metabolic cofactor synthesised from cysteine, pantothenate, and ATP. It plays important roles in many metabolic pathways, including the tricarboxylic acid cycle, and the synthesis and oxidation of fatty acids. One of the main functions of CoA is the carrying and transfer of acyl groups. Acylated deriviates, for example acetyl-CoA, are critical intermediates in many metabolic reactions. CoA levels can be altered during starvation, and in conditions such as cancer, diabetes, and alcoholism.

Beschreibung: Coenzyme A is an essential cofactor in enzymatic acetyl transfer reactions. The principal biologically active forms of pantothenic acid are coenzyme A (CoA) and acyl carrier protein (ACP). In CoA, the business center of the molecule is the pantothenic acid metabolite 4'-phosphopantetheine. Coenzyme A is comprised of 4'-phosphopantetheine linked by an anhydride bond to the nucloetide adenosine 5'-monophosphate. 4'-Phosphopantetheine itself is comprised of pantothenic acid linked at one end, via an amide bond, to beta-mercaptoethylamine, derived from L-cysteine, and at the other end to a phosphate group. The sulfhydryl group of 4'-phosphopantetheine, which is the business end of the coenzyme, forms thioesters with acyl groups producing acyl-CoA derivatives, including acetyl-CoA.
Coenzyme A facilitates removal of lipid peroxides by increasing mobilization of fatty acids, and promote repair of plasma membranes by activating phospholipid synthesis.

Beschreibung: CREBBP is involved in the transcriptional coactivation of many different transcription factors. First isolated as a nuclear protein that binds to cAMP-response element binding protein (CREB), this gene is now known to play critical roles in embryonic development, growth control, and homeostasis by coupling chromatin remodeling to transcription factor recognition. CREBBP has intrinsic histone acetyltransferase activity and also acts as a scaffold to stabilize additional protein interactions with the transcription complex. This protein acetylates both histone and non-histone proteins. This protein shares regions of very high sequence similarity with protein p300 in its bromodomain, cysteine-histidine-rich regions, and histone acetyltransferase domain.

Beschreibung: SCARA5 Antibody: Scavenger receptor class A member 5 (SCARA5), also known as TESR, is part of the scavenger receptor superfamily, which is composed of many members with diverse structures, expression patterns, and functions. SCARA5 is a cell-surface receptor that contains that collagen-like domain and N-terminal scavenger receptor cysteine rich domain typical of the class A scavenger receptor subfamily. Unlike other class A receptors, SCARA5 does not endocytose acetylated or oxidized low density lipoprotein. Instead, SCARA5 binds serum ferritin and mediates its endocytosis from the cell surface, indicating SCARA5 may play a role in non-transferrin iron delivery. At least four isoforms of SCARB1 are known to exist.

Pyruvic acid is an intermediate in sugar metabolism and in enzymatic carbohydrate degradation (alcoholic fermentation) where it is converted to acetaldehyde and CO2 by carboxylase. In muscle, pyruvic acid (derived from glycogen) is reduced to lactic acid during exertion, which is reoxidized and partially retransformed to glycogen during rest. It improves coliform recovery when present in culture medium. It is involved in a metabolic regulatory pathway activated by mitochondrial oxidants. Pyruvate is involved in respiratory regulation in plants by interacting with alternative oxidase at a conserved cysteine residue. It may help prevent hydrogen peroxide mediated cell death.
Sodium pyruvate is utilized as a component in culture broth and media. Sodium pyruvate is used in Wallen fermentation medium to enhance the conversion of oleic acid to 10-ketostearic acid by Bacillus sphaericus. Sodium pyruvate has also been used to establish stably transfected human B cell lines.
Sodium Pyruvate has shown antioxidant properties and protective effects against oxygen radicals. Pyruvate is produced as part of glycolysis and is an intermediate in many metabolic pathways. It can be converted into acetyl CoA and enter the TCA Cycle.
