A sequencing kit optimised for sequencing native RNA with improved output and accuracy.

  • Sequence native RNA not a copy — eliminate PCR bias
  • Characterise challenging transcripts that are difficult to reverse transcribe
  • Directly explore the attributes of native RNA such as modified bases

The Direct RNA Sequencing Kit is used to prepare and sequence native RNA without conversion to cDNA. Inputs include poly(A)-tailed RNA or total RNA, such as eukaryotic mRNA and viral RNA.

The latest Direct RNA Sequencing Kit upgrade (SQK-RNA004) includes increased sequencing output and improved modal raw read accuracy on our new RNA flow cells (e.g. FLO-MIN004RA). The flow cell priming reagents are also included as part of the sequencing kit and have been reformulated to be compatible on the new RNA flow cell. Other updates include fuel fix technology, allowing users to run longer experiments without the need for fuel addition during the run. Note: this kit is compatible with RNA-specific flow cells only (e.g. FLO-MIN004RA).

Input requirements: 200–300 ng poly(A)+ RNA or 1 µg total RNA.

In applications where direct RNA sequencing’s key advantages (detection of modified bases and reduced bias) are not important, users may consider one of Oxford Nanopore’s cDNA kits which currently provide the highest output per run.

Bestellinformation: The Direct RNA Sequencing Kit (SQK-RNA002) is anticipated to be discontinued in March 2024. We recommend using the Direct RNA Kit (SQK-RNA004) together with RNA Flow Cells.

Lieferumfang: Kits are shipped at 2 to 8 °C in an environmentally-friendly temperature-controlled shipping box. Upon receipt, please place the product in a long-term storage location at ‒20 °C. Oxford Nanopore Technologies deem the useful life of the product to be three months from receipt by the customer.
