Pig trypsin (from pancreas), MP Biomedicals
Enzyme

Trypsin 1:250 from pig pancreas is used to release adherent cells from tissue culture plates for passaging. It was used in the isolation and culture of human endothelial cells.

  • Soluble in water, insoluble in alcohol and glycerol
  • Extinction coefficient (E1%): 14,3
  • Enzyme Commission Number: E.C. 3.4.21.4
  • Isoelectric point (pI): 10,5

The protease activity of trypsin is highly specific toward positively charged side chains with lysine and arginine. It forms complexes with a2-macroglobulin. It can be used in the isolation of intact, detergent-free phycobilisomes and in the hydrolysis or condensation of carboxylic ester bonds.

Trypsin is inhibited by organophosphorus compounds such as diisopropyl fluorophosphate and natural trypsin inhibitors from pancreas, soybean, lima bean and egg white. Silver ions are also potent inhibitors. Specific inhibitors are AEBSF, antipain, aprotinin, DFP, leupeptin, PMSF and TLCK.

Unit definition: The activity causing a change in absorbance of 0,003 per minute at 253 nm.
